The specificity of determining the antagonist and its plot potential on the example of fantasy books
Abstract
In the modern information space, as before, narratives – stories and plots that serve as the basis for a variety of cultural works, from paintings to cinema products, play an important role. The driving force of any plot is conflict, and the antagonist and protagonist are the key characters of the conflict. The purpose of this article is to synthesize the definition of the antagonist and typify the characteristics of this character. The relevance and significance of the study lies in the need to clarify the essence of this essential plot element for the creators of works. The article uses a comparative descriptive method, as well as classification and synthesis.
