Features of translation of poems into hindi language on the example of the works of Marina Tsvetaeva and Anna Akhmatova

Abstract

The relevance of the topic is related to the fact that Russian literature is difficult to translate, since it contains a large number of synonyms, variations of words and constructions, vivid and rich coloring and stylistics.
Translations are not a novelty in world literature, and since the 18th century, translation activities have also characterized Russian literature. According to statistics, Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy, Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky and Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev are considered to be the most popular among the Russian authors abroad, and they are translated most often abroad. It was these authors who laid the foundation for classical Russian literature, and thanks to the great writers, our literature reached the world level. Among the most famous Russian writers are V.V. Nabokov, B.V. Zakhoder, N. S. Gumilyov, E. A. Evtushenko, S. Ya. Marshak, B. L. Pasternak and, of course, Anna Akhmatova and Marina Tsvetaeva.
Our goal is to analyze the features of the translation of Russian authors into Hindi – it is interesting to trace how the poems of Russian classics are communicated, how comparisons, epithets, metaphors are made, how the idea and message of the authors are reflected and what happens to the rhyme. Since this area is poorly understood even for other languages, it is practically a novelty for Hindi.
Considering the profile of training Hindi translators at Kazan University, it was decided to focus on translating Russian poems into Hindi. How the Indians convey the Russian masterpiece into their language, what by-pass routes they use to simplify the process, how the style, rhyme and means of expression are conveyed - all this arouses quite a lot of interest.
