Sarai orthodox diocese and the Golden Horde: modern view, eurasian refraction

Abstract

Of particular relevance in the study of the history of the Golden Horde is the presence in the hierarchical system of rule, first of a pagan, then a Muslim state of the Orthodox diocese. The present work is built around this problem. The novelty of the work lies in the development of a little-studied issue and the application of the Eurasian view of the place and significance of the Sarai Orthodox diocese. The scientific significance lies in a more complete coverage of the particular issue of the creation and role of the Sarai Orthodox diocese, a more complete and detailed disclosure of a whole range of issues in the concept of classical Eurasians. The paper traces a brief history of the formation and development of the diocese, draws conclusions regarding its current position and significance for the history of present-day Russia. The results of the work can be used by researchers of this issue in the further process of studying the history of the Saray Orthodox diocese and the city of Saray as a whole.
